2008 Baldwin County Tourism Facts
About 4.5 million people visited Alabama’s beaches and left behind $2.3 Billion in travel-related expenditures.
Approximately 41,500 people were employed in travel-related jobs and collected around $928 million in wages.
Baldwin County generated the largest portion (24%) of the state of Alabama’s $1.1 billion tourism industry. The county collected $279 million in taxable lodging revenue.
Baldwin County claimed the largest portion of the market share (24.2%) when compared to the five neighboring Panhandle counties of Escambia (11.9%), Santa Rosa (2.0%), Okaloosa (18.6%), Walton (24.1%) and Bay (19.2%).
