Wild Kingdom Host to Appear at Free Saturday Event at AL Gulf Coast Zoo

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Peter Gros, a world-renowned animal expert and host of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, will make a special guest appearance on Pleasure Island. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, which also starred on the Animal Planet Network in a primetime series, welcomes the public to a free animal show featuring Gros. After 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th, admission will be free of charge for this 3:00 p.m. show.

Gros has about 30 years of field experience with captive wildlife and has established breeding programs for 377 endangered animals. He also developed the nation’s largest captive breeding colony of ostriches and a rehabilitation program for birds of prey. He is a licensed Exhibition and Animal Educator for the U.S.D.A. and an active member of the American Zoo and Aquariums Association and Zoological Association of America. He is also on the board of directors of the Suisan Marsh Natural History Association.

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom premiered on NBC on January 6, 1963 and is co-hosted today by Jim Fowler and Gros.

The zoo is open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admits the last guest at 3:30. Admission is $10.00 for adults (ages 13-54), $8.00 for seniors (55+), and $7.00 for children (ages 3-12).
