20th Annual Youth Poetry Contest

April is National Poetry Month, and each year, the Friends of the Gulf Shores Library and the Orange Beach Library sponsor a poetry contest. All students in grades K-12 can participate. Prizes will be awarded based on individual merit and grade level. Monetary prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Poems are judged on the following criteria:

• Creative use of language
• Appeal to senses
• Theme development

All poems must be submitted on or before Saturday, April 12, 2025, by 6 pm. Poems should be typed or printed on standard printer paper and must have an entry form attached.

Entry forms are available at Orange Beach and Gulf Shores schools and libraries.
