Pine Needle Basketry Course

Our Naturalists are offering classes this winter on pine needle basketry! Learn the basic skills and techniques it takes to make a beautiful basket! We will provide most of the materials needed for this class and get a basket started for you. During the class, we will teach you the skills to make a basket from beginning to end. The possibilities are endless once you learn the art of pine needle basketry with us!

To make this basket personal, we ask YOU to collect a bundle of Long Leaf Pine needles before class. The bundle should be approximately 2 inches in diameter, of 12 - 18 inch Long Leaf Pine needles (longer is better). Please collect brown fallen needles, not green needles, off trees.

Registration will open for February classes on January 1, and registration for March classes will open on February 1.
