Sandpiper Sprint

These events are open to everyone of all ages and will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, whether participating in the race or not! Booths from sponsors and local environmental organizations will be set up at Pioneer Park from 8-10 am. Stop by and talk with Alabama Audubon staff to learn more about the work they are doing to protect Alabama birds and take a lesson on how to use binoculars and the basic skills to identify your backyard birds. Our environmental partners will also be on-site to share about the great work they are doing to preserve our unique coastal wildlife and landscapes.

But this is more than a race it's a celebration of the birds that depend on the unique and vital habitats found in Baldwin County. From songbirds in your backyard to the shorebirds on our beautiful beaches, birds are dependent on the health of area ecosystems for survival. This includes the health of native plants and pollinators too. Birds need insects, insects need native plants—and they need you to help protect a future for it all!
