2025 Winter Showcase Series: Lightning and Tornadoes

Lightning and tornadoes show the awesome power of nature. Both are fascinating, yet both can be destructive. Each seems random, but there are patterns and cycles that make them somewhat predictable. On a level for all ages, learn facts and trivia about lightning and tornadoes, and how to prepare and be safe from them. 

Alan Sealls  served as a TV Chief Meteorologist in Mobile, Alabama for 24 years, first at WKRG-TV, then at NBC15.  Alan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in meteorology from Cornell University and from Florida State University, respectively. Alan is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS)- a distinction held by a small fraction of meteorologists.
