GULF SHORES AND ORANGE BEACH, ALA. – Since fall 2018, Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism has welcomed two new members to its board of directors: Penny Groux, director of human resources and public relations at Perdido Beach Resort; and Karen Jernigan-Bobe, co-owner and operator of Sunset Properties.
Groux spent the first half of her career in Huntsville as the executive director of Worldwide Corporate Human Resources at Intergraph Corporation, and then relocated to Orange Beach to join the staff at Perdido Beach Resort as the director of human resources and public relations. During her time in coastal Alabama, Groux has served on a variety of committees and councils benefiting the Alabama Gulf Coast. She was added to the board in August 2018 to represent Orange Beach accommodations.
Jernigan-Bobe and her husband have been in the real-estate business for more than 30 years. They began their journey in Pensacola, then moved to Alabama to expand their business. Together, they own and operate Sunset Properties which offers real estate sales and vacation rentals along the Alabama Gulf Coast, specializing in properties along the Fort Morgan Peninsula. Jernigan-Bobe is also fluent in American Sign Language. She was appointed to the board by the Baldwin Legislative Delegation to represent non-incorporated lodging in March 2019.
“Our board of directors is made up of thoughtful, intelligent and well-respected individuals and businesspeople who constantly work together for the betterment of our two cities,” said Herb Malone, president and CEO of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism. “Penny and Karen have already proven themselves to be phenomenal assets to the destination, and I am excited to see what more we can accomplish with them on our team.”
